What is included in your exam and cleaning

Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment

Your visit begins with a thorough examination of your gums, teeth surfaces, and surrounding tissues. We carefully check for any signs of decay, gum disease, or abnormalities that may require attention. This detailed assessment allows us to catch potential issues early when they’re easiest to treat.

Oral Cancer Screening

Early detection saves lives. During every exam, we perform a comprehensive oral cancer screening that includes checking your face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, and gums for any signs of concern. Oral cancer screening is a vital part of your routine care, and we take it seriously to ensure your overall health and well-being.

Digital X-Rays

Digital X-rays provide us with a view of your teeth and surrounding bone structure that isn’t visible during a visual examination alone. This advanced imaging helps us detect hidden issues such as:

  • Decay between teeth or beneath existing fillings
  • Bone loss associated with gum disease
  • Tumors or cysts
  • Impacted teeth
  • Problems with tooth roots

Our digital X-ray technology uses significantly less radiation than traditional X-rays while providing clearer, more detailed images.

Advanced Digital Imaging

Gleam Dental uses cutting-edge technology to capture the most accurate view of your oral health.

Intraoral Cameras: These small, pen-sized cameras allow us to take clear, high-resolution images of individual teeth and areas of concern. You can see exactly what we see on a screen, helping you better understand your oral health and any recommended treatments.

Digital Scanners (iTero Lumina): Instead of uncomfortable, messy traditional impressions, we use the iTero Lumina scanner to create precise 3D digital models of your teeth. This technology is fast, comfortable, and incredibly accurate—perfect for treatment planning, monitoring changes, and fabricating restorations.

Bite and Restoration Evaluation

We carefully evaluate your biting, chewing, and grinding habits to identify any issues that could lead to tooth wear, jaw problems, or discomfort. We also assess the condition of existing fillings, crowns, bridges, and other restorations to ensure they’re functioning properly and protecting your teeth effectively.

Professional Cleaning with AirFlow Technology

Your professional cleaning removes plaque and tartar buildup that regular brushing and flossing can’t eliminate. At GLEAM Dental, we use AirFlow Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT)—an innovative, gentle cleaning system that uses a stream of air, water, and fine powder particles to remove biofilm, stains, and calculus comfortably and effectively.

After your cleaning, your teeth are polished to a beautiful shine. If recommended, we’ll apply a fluoride treatment to strengthen your enamel and provide additional protection against cavities for months to come.

Patient comfort is a priority at Gleam Dental. Every extraction is performed under local anesthesia so you feel no pain during the procedure.

We also have sedation options available for patients with dental anxiety or low pain tolerance. Please discuss with your dentist during the consultation. After your procedure, the Gleam team will send you home with clear guidance on managing discomfort at home, including recommendations for over-the-counter pain relief.

Does dental insurance or CDCP cover routine exams in Toronto?

Most Ontario dental insurance plans cover routine exams and cleanings, typically at 80 to 100 percent depending on your plan. The CDCP also covers diagnostic exams and x-rays for eligible patients. Gleam Dental direct bills to most major insurance providers and accepts CDCP.
