Not every case is suitable for immediate implant placement, but when it’s possible, it’s a game-changer.
After a tooth extraction, significant bone loss naturally occurs. Studies show that up to 50% of the alveolar bone width can be lost within a year, with most loss happening in the first three months. This bone loss can change your facial appearance and make future implant placement difficult or impossible.
We prevent this. During your extraction, we add bone material and a specialized membrane to the socket—a process called Bone Grafting or Guided Bone Regeneration. This preserves bone structure and prepares the site for future implant placement.
Two approaches:
Immediate Implant Placement: Bone grafting is done simultaneously with implant placement. You get the implant right away, and bone loss isn’t a concern.
Delayed Implant Placement: When immediate placement isn’t advisable (such as with severe infection), we place bone material in the socket. After a few months of healing, we place the implant in healthy, preserved bone.

At Gleam Dental, we recommend a dental exam every 6 months, those in some cases more frequent visits are recommended. We offer patients two options: a 30-minute consultation which includes only the dental exam and a 90-minute consultation that includes an exam and a cleaning. Most patients choose the second option as it offers a complete picture of their oral health.
Most Ontario dental insurance plans cover extractions, but some may need prior authorization. The CDCP also covers extractions for eligible patients as part of its essential oral health services. Gleam Dental direct bills to most major insurance providers and accepts CDCP. Check your insurance here before you book.
Yes. Gleam Dental accommodates same-day consultations for patients dealing with severe pain, infection, or a failing tooth. For patients who qualify, extraction and implant placement can happen in a single visit. A permanent crown is placed once healing is complete, and temporary crown options are available for front teeth in the meantime.
